Electrical/Automation Engineer

Advanced Process Technologies, Inc. an industry leader serving the food and dairy industry is seeking Electrical/Automation Engineers to support our growing and dynamic in-house automation group at our Cokato, MN office.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineer or equivalent experience.

Knowledge:

  • Direct technical knowledge in the design, assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of PLC-based control systems
  • Knowledge of the food, dairy, beverage and pharmaceutical industries beneficial
  • Understanding of automation control systems, such as Allen Bradley PLCs, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software
  • Knowledge of AC and motor Controls as well as National Electrical Code (NEC) and Underwriter Laboratories (UL) standards
  • Comfortable with multi PLC systems and distributed HMI architecture environments

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge / Skills:

 Understanding fundamental fluid mechanics as pertain to liquid piping and storage systems

 Functional understanding of heat and mass transfer relative to basic liquid processing

 Basic Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent computer aided design systems for producing Process and Instrumentation Drawings. Experience in 3-D modelling is a plus.

 Functional mathematical knowledge necessary to develop simple models in Excel for understanding material balances and time/throughput/capacity analysis

 Knowledge of the food, dairy, beverage and pharmaceutical industries beneficial  Experience in metal fabrication/plumbing/pipefitting is also beneficial.

 Communication skills to share technical concepts with engineers and non-technical people

 Organizational, time management, and project management skills necessary to efficiently execute multiple activities on multiple projects

Job Responsibilities

  • Create accurate, detailed technical plans for electrical systems using computer-aided design programs to convert specifications and design information from engineers into schematics and blueprints
  • Collect, study and combine rough sketches and initial design ideas from engineers into coherent technical drafts for further study and review by project managers
  • Prepare comprehensive wiring diagrams for electrical equipment to project objectives, design information and engineering specifications
  • Check that final technical drafts include all relevant information in an easy-to-read format, and verify that calculations, measurements and units are accurate based on initial design information from engineers
  • Review technical drafts as needed according to verbal or written instructions from project managers

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate degree in drafting or AutoCAD, or relevant work experience
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • EPLAN and/or electrical drafting experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and design skills
  • Previous PLC or control panel design experience is a plus

Metal Finisher/Grinder

Advanced Process Technologies (APT) specializes in the food and dairy industry.  We are seeking individuals for a professional career as a Metal Finisher/Grinder; to join our temperature controlled fabrication shop in Cokato, MN. 

Metal Finisher/Grinder operates power tools to get welds and metal surfaces to the required finish specifications per engineered prints.  A Metal Finisher/Grinder may also assist with rigging and moving equipment around as needed. The Metal Finisher/Grinder works under moderate supervision. 

To be a Metal Finisher/Grinder typically requires a minimum of one year of related experience. However, APT is willing to invest in training the right entry level individual. Domestic travel for on-site projects may be requested by APT and fulfilled at employee’s discretion.
